Fantastic treatment of the wrath of God...this book continues to deliver the goods...a great practice for Lent. This combined with reading/contemplating Brian Zahnd’s “The Unvarnished Jesus” have been a serious step forward in my Lenten journey. Also I appreciate the info/opinions/explanations in her footnotes...many writers and scholars are so sterile with their use of footnotes.

Agreed on both points here. I too am journeying through Lent with both books. The footnotes are so good that I find myself having to be disciplined about NOT spending too much time in the footnotes - this is necessary in order to stay on track with my reading for the day!

I agree. This book is a great as everyone says it is. Coming to understanding the wrath of God as a metaphor (a very true metaphor) and not literal anger has been a game-changer for me. I wish I would have known this 20 years ago.
